Types of visa
Basically there are two different types of visa: the Schengen Visa for short-term stays in Germany and the German National Visa for long-term stays in Germany. Please read the following information carefully before contacting the Consulate General. Please also read the information provided on the right side of this page.
All visa applicants are required to present a health insurance policy which has to meet certain requirements. Please make sure that your health insurance meets these requirements!

National visa / long-term stay in Germany
Generally speaking, holders of a BN(O), HKSAR or Macau SAR passport do not need a visa to visit the Schengen Area as a tourist for up to 90 days in any 6-month period, provided that no employment is taken. More on visa requirements can be found here.
